Inheritance Explained Using VideoScribe

Inheritance inheritance is defined as passing on genetic characteristics from one generation to the next Gregor Mendel an Austrian monk was one of the first people to investigate inheritance Looking at pea plants he observed if you crossed a white and a pink pea plant all the offspring of the next generation were pink and no white flowers appeared in that generation He then crossed two of the pink flowers from this generation and found that one in four flowers in this generation were white Mendel summarized that although the white flower was masked in a generation The gene that gave the white color is still passed on and ready to appear again This study gave rise to the theory of gene dominance where some genes are dominant some are recessive But both are passed on they can appear in future generations
