We are currently fully entered into the era
of personalized medicine. Genetic testing resides at the core of this revolution in
medicine and healthcare and we have witnessed enormous changes in the last 5 to 10 years
with respect to how use genetic information for everyday patient care. Specifically from
the cancer standpoint, the advent of multigene panel testing has revolutionized our ability
to cast a wide net to identify the presence of any disease causing mutations in several
genes. Moreover, the price of testing is decreasing and we will continue to do so which will allow
more patients to be tested and therefore more cancers to be prevented.
